Sucker Punch Make-up: Sweetpea

Hi guys! Sorry i has been so long!

So last weekend i was at Comic-con in Glasgow. I went as the character Sweet Pea from the movie Sucker Punch. (See Left)

This characters make-up is a natural yet dark look.

The main face is just natural, looking slightly pale and porcelain.

The lips are a natural pink with a golden undertone.

While the eyes are dark, they are dramatic and smoky. This contrasts the plain and porcelain look of the rest of the face.

So i naturally decided on no blush, or bronzer but i used slight highlighter to make my face more angular. (I applied it to my cheek bones, brow bone and the man column of my nose, as well as a small dot on my cupids bow to make my lips look pout-y.)

I applied black eyeshadow on my eyes, with a line under of eyeshadow. I then smudged it out so it looked smoky and less harsh. I then applied eyeliner to my waterline and the edge of my eye to make them more angular. Ounce that was done, i applied my usual mascara( you can use false lashes if you would like, but i decided against it) and used an eyebrow comb to brush them out and separate them.

I then applied a light pink and an extra layer of gold lipgloss over the top.

I will be doing a post about wigs at some pont, either on here or on my personal blog! (Witch you can find the link to n my about page)

A Smiley Without the Smile // The Fury inspired nail art by Becca

Hi everyone! It's Becca here again, marking (in a rather late manner) lesser-known books and fandoms week with my favourite book of all time, The Fury. This book is by Alexander Gordon Smith, and basically proposes the idea: "Imagine if one day, without warning, the entire human race turned against you?". Then it kills everyone and all of your feelings.

I did this nail art with a base of Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in 803 Man Overboard (a grey) topped with a coat of Rimmel 60 Seconds polish in 800 Black Out (take a wild guess), then topped with another coat of the grey.

I then added the flame colours (BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Satsuma - orange, Essie Snap Happy - red, and Essence Wanna be your sunshine - yellow) by wiping off the majority of the polish from the brush and just kinda swiping it across my nail. Fire is random, this can be too. You can do any order, but aim to have orange at the top - I think I did orange, red, yellow, orange. I then topped it with L'Oreal Smoky Top Coat (using the same method) for a, well, smoky effect.

The smiley - or, not smiley - was a decal of my own creation:

After taking all the stickers off a sticker sheet (well, the remainders - a lot had already come off), I drew the faces with Essence's Nail Art Tattoo Pen. I then covered them with a generous layer of clear polish and allowed them to dry for a bit. After this, I lifted them off the sheet (the plasticky sticker sheet makes this easy-peasy) and stuck them to my nails, before covering with another generous layer of clear polish.

You'll notice, if you know my nail arting, that I used a different accent nail and put the decal upside down from how I normally have it. This was completely intentional, and I won't show you a photo because it was for the express purpose of being very very immature indeed. You can probably figure it out.

I hope you enjoyed this nail art! I'll be back next week with some more nail art inspired by one of Alexander Gordon Smith's books!

The Flowers They Bring // The Things We Did for Love inspired nail art by Becca

Hi everyone! Sorry about the little break - and about posting on someone elses day, sorry Hannah!

This nail art is inspired by the cover of a brilliant book - one with the distinction of being the only book to ever make me cry -  by Natasha Farrant, called The Things We Did for Love. I even nearly cried when I was skim-reading bits for a title for this nail art!

The book is about a fictional French village during the Second World War, and the tragedy that befalls its inhabitants. The heart of the story is the relationship between Arianne and Luc, but it dips into the stories of other people in and around the village.

It takes place during June 1944, so I'm going to use it belatedly for my Summer week post as well!

I painted the rose and branches separately on a de-stickered sticker sheet then covered them generously in clear nail polish to make my own nail decals, then created a sort of gradient effect to emulate the effect of the book cover. I then added the homemade decals to the nails, and added the little yellow hearts. I feel that the hearts definitely pulled it together, before I added them I definitely felt that it was missing that little something.

I used KIKO nail lacquer in 386 for the base, then mixed it with BarryM's nail paint in Matt White for the light part of the gradient and 2true shade 14 for the darker part. The decals were Rimmel London 60 Seconds nail polish in 800 Black Out with my trusty MUA clear polish (not pictured) and the hearts were Essence Colour & Go in 137 Wanna be your Sunshine.

I hope you liked this post! The quote I used is from near the end of the book, I can't tell you the second half of it because it'd kind of be a spoiler! But you'll know it when you get to it, probably.
