The Paints Don't Matter // Whose Line Is It Anyway inspired nail art by Becca

Hello again everyone! Becca here!

Now, I realise that Whose Line may not be technically considered to be a fandom, but it's pretty much all I've been watching for the last week since my friend introduced me to it, so... it felt logical somehow. ;P

Now, the process is kind of complicated. I used a white base coat, then much like I did here, I put a splodge of nail polish onto a sticker sheet and diluted it a little with a brush dipped in nail polish remover. I then did the splodges in different colours, but it was too brushy and not splodgey enough. Therefore, I dipped a cotton bud in remover (wipe most of it off, you want it damp enough to make the effect but not too wet or it'll just take off the colour) and dabbed it over each fully coloured nail in turn. Sometimes it took colour off anyway, so I splodged more on and dabbed some more.

From there, the stick figures were simple - splodge and dilute black polish.

I also did the thumbnail as the host and their desk:

I included the desk light in the silhouette, though perhaps I should have left it out in honour of that glorious moment ;)

Base colour was Nail Paint by BarryM in Matt White. Then we have:
  • Yellow - Essence Colour & Go in Wanna Be Your Sunshine
  • Green - NYC In a New York Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in High Line Green
  • Blue - KIKO Nail Lacquer in 386
  • Red - MUA Nail Polish in Fever Red
  • Black - Rimmel London 60 Seconds in 800 Black Out
I hope you enjoyed this post - and don't blame me for the Whose Line marathon if you end up on one! ;)

Fem!Mad Hatter Make-up (Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland)

I love Tim Burton. Like, Reallllllyyyy love Tim Burton, witch is why i picked this version of Alice in Wonderland to work from.

(I did this straight after i had done an other make-up tutorial, so i still have a trace on eyeliner, ignore it.)

Start off with the usual blank make-up.

Then you add a brownish red eyeshadow to the top and bottom of your eyes. Also, if you are going for a cosplay with a wig, use a red-ish brown to color in your eyebrows to match your wig :3

Then fill the eyelids in with a dark denim blue eyeshadow.

Then, add blush to the cheeks in a bright pink. Suck in your cheek and do a line from the dimple formed to the edge of the face, remembering to blend it in.

When doing your lips, do a natural pink on the inside and blend out to a darker pink on the outside (for a fuller lip look).

Then you apply, eyeliner and mascara as you would normally. Now, you are done! ~<3

A cute Fem! Mad Hatter look, ready for any convention or party! Good luck, guys!!

Anna Make-up (Frozen)

I am a big fan of frozen, i especially love how warm and sweet Anna looks. So i did this tutorial of Anna's makeup :3

(I already have freckles, but if you dont just add them on with an eyebrow pencil. Also, sorry for all the close ups of my face, i dont have great complexion XD)

Start off with a blank face, power, foundation, concealer e.t.c

Then start of with a brown powder eyeshadow and lightly dust the whole eye area with it.

Then you do a thin winged eyeliner on your eyelid, to give it the pointed catoon look. Then you do the waterline (Shown below) to give the bottom a thin line, try not to stab yourself in the eye and use a waterproof gel eyeliner or a pencil eyeliner. Then put on mascara as you usually would.

Then move on to the lips, i use CreamPuff, witch is like a matte lip butter that comes in a lipgloss tub, its a soft pink and has a warm look to it.

Then on the apple of your cheeks (Your cheekbone) You add a warm pink blush. To give that blushing and bubbly look.

Then to complete the look highlight your face. You can buy highlighter or use white eyeshadow and blend it in. Put down the bone of your nose, the edge of your cheekbones, your cupids-bow and  the inside corner of your eye. Then your done.

Enjoy, your Anna look. If its for a date, cosplay or just fun, Good Luck! (Sorry about my face again XD)

TFIOS inspired eyeliner // TFIOS week

Hi everyone, Becca here! For TFIOS week (check the tab at the top for more info on themed weeks) I decided to do a subtle eyeliner look inspired by the most well-known cover of the book.

It's very simple and subtle; a line of black and a line of blue. You can do this with liquid eyeliner, but I used eyeshadow with a thin, stiff brush.

Here it is in the context of the full face; I paired it with a sheer pink lipgloss, again as it's meant to be a subtle look.

And finally, this is what I used:

Blusher - 2true Shade 1
Lipgloss - unnamed unbranded one (anyone know?)
Crease - MUA Smokin' palette in Ghost
Black liner - MUA Undressed palette in Shade 11
Blue liner - 11th shade in MUA Poptastic palette
Inner corner - 3rd shade in MUA Poptastic palette
Mascara - W7 Lengthening Thickening Mascara in Black

I hope you liked this subtle look! Of course, if you go to see the film - or read the book - then maybe use waterproof makeup ;)

Party in Plaid // Supernatural inspired nail art

Hello again everyone!

It's Becca here, and I've got another Supernatural inspired mani for you today. This time it's inspired by the plaid shirts that the brothers (especially Sam) seem to hoard!

I don't know if either brother has worn a shirt in this particular colour scheme before, but I wouldn't put it past them!

I used these polishes - BarryM Matt White for the base, then KIKO 386, Rimmel London 60 Seconds in 803 Man Overboard, and Essie 244 Snap Happy for the pattern - although, of course, you could really use any colour scheme.

And this is my extra equipment. I use an old sticker sheet from WHSmith (they come in a pack of 600 or so) to swatch polishes on and try out designs, and also to put blobs of polish on when I want to do a more intricate design. The great thing about these sheets is that as long as I use the shiny side, the polish peels right off, so it's great when I run out of room for polish blobs or want to do a more intricate design without putting it directly on my nail - it's like a homemade nail sticker!

I put a bit of the nail polish remover into the lid, then mixed it into the polish blob with the brush to thin it and make it easier to paint - this is partly why the colours show through each other. It's basically the same theory as normal paint XD

I hope you liked this nail art, and I'll see you next Saturday for my TFIOS week post!

Heaven and Hell // Supernatural inspired nail art

Hi everyone! Becca here again, and this time I've got a Supernatural inspired mani for you.

For this nail art I wanted to try a gradient, a technique I've never done before. As well as trying something new, I also wanted to do a gradient to emphasise the fact that in the world of Supernatural the two places have more similarities than the occupants would care to admit.

I started with a white base, then painted over that. I won't list all the steps, as I'd be here forever, but if you try this then paint Hell first, as the Heaven colour is more sheer and will look better over the top. Also, keep your nail polish remover close - you'll need it to both clean the brushes and to thin the polish for the watercolour effect. It'll be better to pour a little into the lid/another container, that way you can throw it away and avoid contaminating the rest of the bottle.

Another tip is to try not to get too much polish on the brush, as it creates a more solid colour - you can see where I got a little too much on my index finger, and it's more of a line than a gradient, with less variation in the red than on other fingers.

My base was Nail Paint by BarryM in Matt White, and Hell was Essie's Snap Happy with Rimmel London 60 Seconds polish in 800 Black Out. Heaven was a mixture of Kiko 386 (just a smidgen) mixed with the three unnamed polishes in the picture; the first one I have no idea what brand it is and the small ones at the other end are Marks and Spencers. I also added bits of the lilac/gold duochrome over the top in the same way I added the black to Hell.

I hope you liked this nail art!

Casual cosplay (Captain America used as Example)

Hi guys, sorry that i haven't posted before, but life was a little busy ;3. Im starting off easy, with something that i love, Casual Cosplay.

This is a concept i have seen a lot at conventions but i don't think it has been really addressed.

Cosplay takes a lot of work and money that people don't have. So instead, they create casual cosplays.

Normally this is based around superheros, you get a printed top and matching jeans for example. There are a few examples below but this works with almost any cosplay:

For example, i have put here one of my personal faves. Its a Captain America one, with a feminine and stylish twist. The heels make it more stylish but keeps with the style of the cosplay.

You can also wear it around town to spark conversation with people of similar interests.

I hope this has helped and will get more people into cosplay.

Shadow Hunter look (The Mortal Instruments) by Jess.

Hey guys! sorry it's late but I've been ill :c however here i am and with a makeup tutorial for you guys!

It is inspired by Isabelle's look from The Mortal Instruments! For this look you can use any of products of your choice but if you would like to know what I used don't be afraid to ask!

Steps:
1,Firstly I started by doing my base. this included foundation, concealer, blush, loose powder, and contouring powder.I also filled in and shaped my eyebrows.

2,Next I outlined the shape of my eye using a black kohl pencil.
3,I then went a head and filled the rest in using a light black eye shadow.Following this I then blended it out using a darkish grey eye shadow.

5, Then added a gold pigment to my eye lid and blended it out.
6, I went ahead and bought some of the same black eye shadow under my eyes. I also lined my water lines using the same black kohl pencil.
7, I lined my lash line using a black liquid liner.(In the pictures the wings look different as I did a cat eye on one and the other was fully winged out.For the purpose of this post.)
8, I followed this step by cleaning up under my eyes and reapplying and lost concealer.
9, I lined my inner corner using a gold glitter liner and applied my mascara to the upper and lower lashes.
10, I then put on my bad-ass red lipstick, done my hair, and put on my black dress and now it's time to kill some demons!
